Is fat free cheese allowed?
Nelly - moderator : Welcome to the chat Patt! Officially - As written in the book - Dr. Dukan does not recommend FF Cheese as it tastes terrible and because it's full of chemicals. It's not in the list of 100 foods. We suggest you wait until Consolidation to eat real cheese. And no - not even FF Feta it's SUPER high in sodium ounce per ounce. Yes it is used as a garnish in some recipes - it is not meant for every day use - but to be used sparingly. Memebers who choose to add fat free cheeses tend to lose slower, so keep this in mind if you decide to use it.
anne : Hi, I want to thank Tiffany for sending me vegetarian packet today. It will be a huge help to me. Can I expect the same rate of weight loss as with the "regular" plan. I plan on using the vegetarian options with some fish, but fish is the only animals I eat. anne

The results for vegetarians are usually more gradual, but considering you are a pescetarian, the more fish you eat (even though you're growing tired of it) the more accelerated your results will be compared to the regular meat protein eaters.

Iwilldothis2 : My questions is this, I have continued to lose weight during the consolidation phase. Do I have to add 5 more days of consolidation to account for this weight lose. Also do I expect do gain this weight back in stabalization and settle at my original TW or is this weight lose mine to keep?
Anita, you don't have to add to the Consolidation phase days and it's definitely possible not just to continue to lose weight but also to keep it. You may need to make a few modifications if necessary but if you follow Conso and Stabilization this can still happen. It's definitely happened before with other members :-)

Nelly - moderator : Welcome to the chat Lucille! If you ate for breakfast and lunch, It is totally normal that you gained weight in the afternoon. You haven't had the time to burn the calories and fat yest. That is why you have to weight yourself in the morning only!

Kkdiets : Hi, I am having trouble with motivation and following the plan. Has anyone gone through this and have good advice for me? We are snowed in here in the NW so I am able to join the chat today due to work closures. Great timing for me as I am in need of boosting up here.
Welcome to the chat, Kathy! It's great that you can join us. It definitely is the perfect time and you have your coaches and community here for support. For motivation, I tend to use visualization a lot. With the Dukan, success is only a matter of time when you stick to it so imagine yourself being the new you :-)
anne : I will! My cravings for carbs and nuts (food and habits that have made it impossible for me to lose this weight in the past year) are gone! Is this due to the protein? I don't think it's willpower only : )
Anne, part of it is definitely the Dukan system teaching your body a new way of eating. It's also definitely you. You are the protagonist of your weight loss story :-)

Kathy, think of what you want the most out of this diet and see that it will happen :-). For some people, it's a lower dress size, for others it's health. You will make it!
pkw : Howdy from Houston - I am very happy with the results so far. I tend to only show a change in the scale about every 3-4 days (downward) - pretty normal ? or no?

Everyone has their own particular whoosh cycle. This just means this is the amount of time it takes for your body to whoosh out retained water and show your actual fat loss results. As you may know, when burning fat your fat cells retain more water to sustain their shape.

Iwilldothis2 : Kathy, I know it has been said before, but make sure you are eating enough and taking the time vary your diet. I found the easiest way to stay on track was to plan my meals and not go into the hunger/nibble zone.
You can do it - trust the plan and trust that your body WILL respond to the new way of eating.

I heard mention of some sort of "staircase" and how it outlines the functions of the diet or something and how its a great way to approach Stabilization. Can you break this down for me, Dr. Dukan?
Dear Taylor, nice to see you are curious about my Nutritional Stair. This concept occurs when you arrive in the consolidation phase. In this phase, you have already reached your True Weight and the goal is to conserve it. So you are going to add the new foods to the proteins and the végétable. And this phase will last 5 days by each pound lost. This time is enough to print in your body’s memory the basis of model of new diet. And that is during this period that you adopt the Nutritional Stair with 7 steps. The first step is the Protein-one that is very vital. The second one is the step of Vegetables, not vital but essential. The third is Fruit, one in the first part of this phase and two in the second. The 4th is two slices of whole bread. 5th is 40 grammes of cheese. 6th is one then two portions of starchy foods a week. And the last one, the 7th is one then two celebration meals a week. This stair show the importance of the family's food by the position on the stair, very high in the first step to finish with the pure pleasure foods. And with this stair, you live it concretly. I hope to have been enough clear because it is a very useful way to learn concretly the basis of the security platform to be able to eat normally but knowing what you have to return if you eat too much. anne : About motivation...I started doing this this week and it is helping me...Every morning I search the internet for motivational quotes relating to diet and exercise...i search "Images" mostly...then pin up a couple of visuals on my Pinterest board online. I am reminded of those quotes during the day like "Remember your Goal" "It's not going to be easy but it will be worth it". Even just a photo of a new pair of running shoes I want. Probably sounds kind of corny : )
Anne, things like this really work for me and I hope it helps Kathy too. I also tend to really flesh out my goals and get into the details of things. It helps me keep the image of attaining success in my head and the little steps are just the necessary things that need to come together in my journey. Pictures and quotes are great but also music!
Rhonda : I have very noticeable cellulite in my thighs. I was hoping that with the weight loss I would see this going away or at least diminishing. Is there something I can do to speed this up or am I just stuck with it for life? I have lost 32 pounds and gone from a size 16 jeans to a size 6! I am thrilled with the results of everything but that nasty cellulite! Has anyone else experienced this?
Dear Rhonda, the problem with thigh cellulite is that it resist to diet because cellulite is a special fat locked up or jailed in a conjunctive prison. And when you lose so much weight as you did, you add a skin problem with a little bit less firmness. Is it a solution? I know only one in France known on the name of Cellumassol and you must ask Renée if it is possible to find it in States. It is a vegetable plant with no contraindication easy to take and which can help the cellulite reducing but this action is not a complete one, it is modest but sure and it is nothing else in the world market. MariHa : What motivates me... hmmm.... seeing me feel better, sleep better and of course look better. ;) I try to keep in mind, that it is important to loose weight to be healthy, so that gives me motivation. :D
Mari, health is such a big motivation! You just feel better in this diet. Definitely the amount of proteins must be doing something and the veggies. I am in love with Kale now (thanks to our nutritionist, Simone, for bringing it up) so the food to me is a big yes as well.

ashdawg13 : Good afternoon everyone. I am very pleased with my weight loss. I cheated last night and had a alcoholic drink, Vodka and club soda, but that was it. I didn't change in weight this morning. I know it is not allowed till the consolidation phase. Ooops.
Also, why is the juice from lemons not allowed in our tea or salads.

As you may know, alcohol stagnates weight loss because it prevents the body from burning fat. Your weight may not have gone up, but you will have to burn off that alcohol to prevent further stagnation.
A light spritz of lemon is allowed with balsamic vinegar to make a salad dressing. You can even have a little bit of lemon (straight from the source) in some hot water if you are having trouble with bowel movements. Constipation can really get in the way of the diet, so a little lemon to get things moving is fine.

Dr. Dukan, (and it is so nice to "meet up" with you...I asked this question of my coaches, and I am asking you as well. I love the coaching and the support that I have had from the coaches is above and beyond my expectations. However, on the Daily Report, I would liek to see a spot where we can ask a question, or add a comment, rather than just ticking off the same old squares every night. i find that I am losing interest in filling our that report, because it is, frankly, a bit boring....For example, if I have had Popcorn, there is no square so i ahve to find something similar...yet if I could have a spot to say that I am missing Popcorn, it would be so much to the point.
Any thoughts on when we might see a change in the questionnaire?

ashdawg13 : I ordered the slimming tea, and I love the taste. My question is, can I have it anytime during the day and more than one a day?
Hi, Teresa. It is great to hear that you are loving the tea. It is not recommended to have more than 1 a day because of its diuretic effect. If after a few days of use you feel an extra cup wouldn't hurt, then that is fine.
MariHa : That's true Rodrigo. I already feel better and sleep better after a 1,5 weeks. Can't wait to look better too. ;)
Mari, that will come as well. It's hard to notice changes too on yourself until someone else points it out. It can be a great surprise!
Jojo : It's great to hear about the different ways people motivate themselves. I haven't lost any weight for a week or so, but my measurements are dropping and I feel good - but gosh, I get hung up on that number on the scale. Maybe I'll go and find some images to focus on. Thanks for the ideas.
Welcome to the chat, Jo! Focus on those measurements for now because they are a sure sign of the whoosh. Then, it will be your weight. Images, music, quotations... Did you know that there is a haiku thread on the forum? Those are great! Stay positive :-)
ashdawg13 : Hello again, I make my own Beef Jerky, with extra Lean ground beef. I add the cure that comes with it, which has 0 everything, and I use half of the spice packet that comes with it. I also add crushed red peppers, is this okay to eat all day long?

This sounds great! Just be careful with the cure that comes with it, make sure the sodium level is low and sugar non existent. I know you said 0 everything, but I just want to make sure all the right nutrition facts are being observed. Otherwise, you can eat as much of it as you'd like :)
MariHa : Rodrigo, After the 20 kilos already lost, it will certainly take a while until anybody notices the last 10 kilos gone. :s But one day maybe. :D
It will happen, Mari. Some people take before and after pictures to see it more as that might also help.
Iwilldothis2 : I did not realize how much my body changed until I went out to buy new clothes - started looking at size 14 pants but ended up with size 6! Crazy.

Kkdiets : Lots of helpful and specific advice coming in...thanks all. As I read I realize I've stopped planning for variety and with that I'm not as prepared as I need to be each day. That daily preparation was meditative as well, allowing me to review and refresh my goals. I'm feeling the excitement return. :-}
Kathy, a good old brain storm can definitely keep things going. Here is what I usually do: start out with the favorite protein of my choice (salmon and eggs anyone?), look through the recipe book/recipe suggestions, and if not take out my wonderful assortment of spices to just throw in. I think I have way too much fun cooking though even though I am not that great :-)
ashdawg13 : I have been getting recipes from the recipe books, and when it says next to cooking time, for 2 ppl Consolidation Phase Pure Proteins. does this mean can eat on bothe these phases?
Hi Teresa,
Because it says "consolidation phase," this just means it has more servings of tolerated items than allowed in the previous phases. Watch out for the tolerated items and how much of it it uses. Divide the amount by 2 and see if it is over the amount of tolerated items you can have in a day.
DEEDEE0529 : Dr Dukan I dipped my toes into consolidation by just adding berries for now and 1 starch each week. Next month I will add the bread and cheese. My fear is that old patterns and temptations could come back. Is this okay?
Hello Diane! Remember, you are allowed but not required to have the bread, cheese, and fruit. If you are more comfortable adding things slowly rather than all at once, that is certainly fine. Just make sure to enjoy your celebration meal. You know the right things to eat, and you will certainly do great on this phase. :)
DEEDEE0529 : Kathy I too post motivational statements to myself so that I see them every day. I also make sure I eat protein every 3 hrs so I do not get crazy hungry.
Thank you for the input, Diane! The fact that you are not hungry is really important too. You are right. Hunger is the biggest de-motivator in all diets especially ones where you have to count calories. Instead of saying stay positive, maybe I should say stay full and satisfied :-)
