If it has the word diet in it then it must be good for you, right?
Wrong. Diet Soda may cut down the calorie count but it does nothing for your health and many times can lead to weight gain. Here are few facts about Diet Soda that will help you kick the habit.

Tooth Decay: The journal Dentistry found the acidity in diet soft drinks can damage teeth as badly as methamphetamine or crack cocaine. 

34% Greater Risk of Metabolic Syndrome: Research shows that as little as one diet soda a day can cause weight gain and increase the risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, stroke, high blood pressure, and metabolic syndrome. *Metabolic syndrome: cluster of medical conditions that increase risk of heart disease

High risk of pre-term delivery for women: Researchers in Copenhagen Denmark concluded, “We observed a positive association between the intake of artificially sweetened soft drinks and the risk of preterm delivery, [but] no association was observed for sugar-sweetened soft drinks".

Increases sugar and food cravings: “Research shows that sweet taste can increase appetite and the regular consumption of the high intensity sweetness of artificial sweeteners may encourage sugar cravings and dependence,” says CNN diet and fitness expert Dr. Melina Jampolis.

Side Effects: The FDA has released the following as official side effects of diet soda; Dizziness, Headaches, Stomach Upset, and Mood Swings.
